Women In Philanthropy (gifts of $100+ yearly to womens health)
Donors to the Women In Philanthropy society play a unique role in shaping healthcare for women in our community while learning and building awareness of womens services.
The purpose of Women in Philanthropy is to inspire and empower women to fulfill
their philanthropic potential by improving the quality of health care for women
of all ages in our community. Members of Women in Philanthropy not only
enhance their own awareness of health, but also that of family and friends,
while setting the example of the art of philanthropy for the next generation of
women.
Participation in Women In Philanthropy is on two levels: (members also
enjoy the recognition and benefits associated with the Sentry Club).

Leadership level ($500+/year for 2 years) allows members to help direct funding to equipment needs, educational programs and other projects related to LRMC & LRCC
as well as participate in exclusive Women in Philanthropy events, socials and
educational programs.
Regular Membership ($100/year) supports women's healthcare at LRMC and allows
members to participate in exclusive Women in Philanthropy events, socials and
educational programs.
Total grants funded = $114,123
Women in Philanthropy grants funds to LRMC and LRCC for improving the care provided to women and children of our community.
These grants are used toward the purchase of new and replacement equipment, construction and renovation, education and the establishment of new programs.
2009 Grants - $39,633
- To purchase the Gaumard Noelle S575 Childbirth Simulator (mom & baby) which will be used to offer continuing education to LRMC staff.
- To purchase Medela's Symphony Preemie + Cards & Education Package. Will be used at LRMC for mothers of pre-term infants to help establish and increase adequate volume of milk in order to sustain their newborns.
- To fund an art project for Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at LRMC in conjunction with Florida Southern College Art Department. Students will paint wall murals.
- To purchase training program "Calmer Kids" which helps children cope in emergency and urgent care and inpatients settings. Will be used to train LRMC staff who interact with children.
- To fund a Pilates Program for Female Oncology Patients at Lakeland Regional Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic. This will consist of free community education and pilates mat instruction sessions to offer oncology patients flexibility and strengthening exercises.
2008 Grants - $34,990
- To purchase infant car beds to provide a safe mechanism for parents to transport their premature infant home from LRMC without the risk of compromising their airways.
- To provide and implement a LRMC Perinatal Bereavement Program that will provide patients with exceptional care.
- To purchase infant size immobilization device to be used during MRI and CT scans at LRMC.
- To create a LRMC diabetes program for care of newly diagnosed children.
- To provide educational/play therapy supplies for outpatient treatment at LRMC of psychiatric disorders in young children.
- To start an aftercare group for child/adolescent patients who are discharged from LRMC inpatient psychiatric treatment.
- To purchase injury prevention equipment and supplies to be distributed to the public by LRMC trauma community education program.
- To underwrite an educational program for key community leaders on the importance of advance directives.
2007 Grants - $39,500
- To build and equip one treatment room in the new Pediatric Emergency Department at LRMC.
- To develop a Breast Cancer Support Group & Program at Lakeland Regional Cancer Center.
- To fund stroke literature and educational materials for community and patient education.
- To purchase equipment and teaching aids used by the LRMC Cardiac Rehab Department.
- To fund speaker fees for National Association of Social Workers Luncheon coordinated by LRMC Mental Health Services.
- To fund DVD/Video program for the Children & Adolescent Family Therapy offered by LRMC Mental Health Services.
- To fund the continuation of the LRMC Healing Arts Program Coordinator through September 2008.
