2007 Annual Victorian Tea

November 20, 2007

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lakeland Regional Cancer Center and Lakeland Regional Medical Center recently held the 7th Annual Victorian Tea which was funded by the Lakeland Regional Medical Center Foundation. Almost 400 ladies and gentlemen enjoyed a wonderful program and delightful goodies. LRCC Physicians Solange Pendas, MD, Surgical Oncologist and Madhavi Venigalla, MD, Hematology/Oncology each presented a brief update on new treatments for breast cancer. Inspirational Humorist and Educator Becky Olson, two-time breast cancer survivor, was the keynote speaker. A Healthy Woman Expo was held prior to the tea and featured a variety of booths related to women's health. A fun art project coordinated by The Healing Arts Program at LRMC was also available for attendees to participate in. This year's sponsors included: Susan G. Komen for the Cure FL Suncoast Affiliate, Amoema Breast Forms, Genentech, Clark/Nikdel/Powell Advertising and Cy-Tek. Door prize donors included: Peacock Antiques, Garden Bistro, The LRMC Gift Shop, The Boutique at LRCC and the LRCC Cancer Screening & Women's Health Center. The Victorian Tea is an annual educational event that is FREE to the public. It is typically held the first Friday of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
