Women in Philanthropy Grants Announced

The Lakeland Regional Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce the 2008 grant recipients of funds raised by the Women in Philanthropy Giving Society. Women in Philanthropy Executive Committee Chairwoman Ihla Sloman revealed the recipients during the groups annual luncheon. A combined $34,990 has been awarded as follows:
To purchase infant car beds to provide a safe mechanism for parents to transport their premature infant home without the risk of compromising the babys airway.
To provide and implement a Perinatal Bereavement Program that will provide patients exceptional care.
To purchase an infant-sized immobilization device to be used during MRI and CT scans.
To create a diabetes program for care of newly diagnosed children.
To provide educational/play therapy supplies for outpatient treatment of psychiatric disorders in young children.
To start an aftercare group for child/adolescent patients who are discharged from inpatient psychiatric treatment.
To purchase injury prevention equipment and supplies to be distributed to the public by our trauma community education program.
To underwrite an educational program for key community leaders on the importance of advanced directives.
This year, the luncheon focused on living an inspired life with guest speaker Mary Foley. Foley shared her tips through a talk titled Live like your nail color - even if you have naked nails!
The funds raised by Women in Philanthropy are designated for the purpose of improving the quality and scope of healthcare that women and children receive at LRMC and LRCC. The Executive Committee of Women in Philanthropy is comprised of Ihla Sloman, Connie Bovay, Maryann Cassell, Denise Crenshaw, Nancy Fisher, Bobbi Griffith, and Linda Rich.
